My name is Mo Sharpe and I am a person-centred counsellor, clinical supervisor and trainer running a private practice in Hitchin.
I work with adults, young people and children, offering short and long term work.
I also offer relationship counselling (couples, partnerships, colleagues, family, friends and siblings…), including family therapy.
Being a person-centred counsellor means that I offer a safe, confidential and ethical space (working to the BACP code of ethics) and that I will listen and be alongside you, without judgement as you explore.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am,
then I am able to change.”
Carl Rogers
Carl Rogers defined the person centred way of working. Through his work with clients he discovered that, if he were able to listen without judgement, to empathise and to see the world through their eyes, they were given the greatest possibility of awareness and acceptance of themselves. This also offered an opportunity for change (if that was what they were seeking to achieve).
I have worked as a schools counsellor for several years and so have extensive experience of counselling children and young people.
I am co-founder of OPALS, an organisation running CPD for counsellors and various other workshops and courses offering support and learning to those that come into contact with children and adolescents.
I have also worked in Artist management for many years, giving me experience in understanding the emotional needs of performers.
I carry professional liability insurance and have been Enhanced DBS checked
